User Manual of Ivy Hu · 2026
8 years, one person, hands-on with more than 10 enterprise software product lines. Now I use AI to scale that system to the output of a team.
01 — Who I am
SYSTEM
I turned 8 years of practice into reusable SOPs and AI skills, from product research and event narratives to ad copy and follow-up emails. When an event ends, what's left is a process the next one can use as-is.

GROWTH
Every marketing task starts from a sales goal: I break it into a marketing plan, find where leads stall in the conversion chain, and fix that stage. Our sales team hasn't needed cold outreach for years.

RANGE
Once we decide to carry a product, I work out which race it's in, what makes it different, who it's up against and who to talk to, then turn that into the website, events and ads. Every product line brings a different market problem.

How I got here
A marketing system that helps a software distributor with no famous name get customers to come to it, across more than 10 product lines.
02 — In numbers
Figures cover work within my own scope. No internal financial data from my employer; no client names.
Testimonials
"I've worked at foreign IT companies for more than 20 years, and Ivy is the best marketer I've ever seen."
"We are impressed by your dedication and ability to host such a successful campaign, thank you for your high level partnership. Special call out to Ivy — she not only orchestrated the event with high standard, she also turned out to be an amazing host."
"The event was a huge success. Afterward, quite a few customers invited us to their offices to walk through Tableau solutions in detail."

03 — Product lines since 2018
The hardest part of marketing at a distributor is speaking for several very different products in the same year. Mature categories compete with big vendors for budget. New categories need the market educated first. Compliance products race against regulatory deadlines. These are the lines I've worked on, and the problem each one posed.
| Since | Product line | Category | Market problem |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 | Tableau | BI and visual analytics | A mature category: grow renewals and expansion in the installed base while competing with analytics tools bundled by bigger vendors |
| 2018 | Alteryx | Analytics automation | A smaller share of my work, mainly supporting existing services clients |
| 2018 | DataRobot | Automated machine learning | Companies wanted AI but lacked data scientists. The job was to show that DataRobot wasn't just software but an outside pool of talent and experience to lean on, with models that could be explained rather than a black box |
| 2019 | UiPath | RPA → agentic automation | Positioning and market maturity kept shifting, so the audience widened from operations teams to IT, and then to CIOs |
| 2022 | Dataiku | Enterprise data science platform | Another AI platform alongside DataRobot, so each needed its own use cases and audience: Dataiku is a collaborative, highly configurable data science platform for companies that already have data scientists; DataRobot lets business teams without data science experts put machine learning and forecasting to work quickly |
| 2024 | PGi AI Agent | In-house AI adoption services | No vendor materials to start from: positioning, service process and content all defined from scratch |
| 2024–25 | Token / Blue Prism / ReconArt | Products carried by our Singapore team (RPA, financial reconciliation and more) | Built product pages for the Singapore team, and designed a Blue Prism roll-up banner for a trade show in Malaysia |
| 2025 | Denodo | Data virtualization | Abstract and hard to explain in one line; CIOs first need to see why the data doesn't have to move |
| 2025 | Dataisec DAM+ | Database activity monitoring | Compliance-driven buying: turn financial and privacy regulations into a reason to act |
| 2026 | iMBrace | Customer engagement and agentic AI | A brand new to Taiwan that has to earn a CIO's trust in 20 minutes |
04 — Selected work
Featured project · July 2025
The company's annual flagship event. On my own, I sourced and managed 5 vendors (key visuals, printed materials and handbook, photo and video, gifts, venue and catering), aligned the talk narratives of 7 speakers one by one, and produced the event's theme song and two music videos.

05 — How I work
Whatever I hand over, the point is at the top. I'd like people to talk to me the same way. It respects everyone's time.
My starting point is the revenue target, not "make a graphic." First I ask which opportunity this should help, then I decide what to make.
"Everyone does it this way" isn't a reason. I break problems down to the basics and put them back together, so I often propose things a step ahead of consensus. Every proposal comes with how it lands and who runs it.
Customer analysis needs several angles; competitor research needs the full set of rivals. When I'm not sure, I mark it "unverified" rather than writing a neat conclusion.
The second time I do something, I write it up as an SOP or an AI skill. That's how a one-person marketing team has lasted 8 years.
External work never shows the research scaffolding, only the finished piece. Everything I make fits into a tool, can be reused, and ties back to a business goal.
Three moves I keep coming back to when I write
06 — Strengths
Gallup groups its 34 talent themes into four domains. Four of my top five fall under Relationship Building. My marketing starts by putting myself in the customer's shoes and working out what they need at each stage of their decision journey. Every touchpoint should leave them with something useful, because those touchpoints add up to how they see the brand.
Speaking up and persuading others: Command, Competition, Communication
Holding teams together and connecting people: Developer, Connectedness, Individualization
| TOP 1 Connectedness Relationship Building | Strategic linking I see the hidden links between marketing activities and sales goals, so every event ties back to a business goal. See the case |
| TOP 2 Activator Influencing | Fast starts Faced with an unfamiliar technical product, I start the full analysis quickly and ship a narrative and a page in a short time. |
| TOP 3 Developer Relationship Building | Long-term assets I treat every contact as a long-term asset, not just this year's pipeline. That's why I proposed bringing in a CRM in 2020. |
| TOP 4 Empathy Relationship Building | Naming the worry I put into words the worry a decision-maker hasn't said out loud yet, like "The demo runs, but the real process doesn't." Readers know from the first line that it's about them. |
| TOP 5 Individualization Relationship Building | Tailored angles No templates. The same product gets a different opening for IT, for finance, for testing teams; when an event's details change, I rewrite it. |
Connectedness ties every step back to a business goal, Activator gets it to market fast, and Developer keeps the relationship going. It all starts with naming the customer's worry and finding the right angle for each audience.
07 — Common misconceptions
Misconception
My work starts from the sales team's revenue target. Content is one stage; before it come product research, positioning, event strategy and managing the contact base.
Misconception
I've seen too much work wasted because the direction turned out wrong at the end. One more question and one more check up front saves the whole team a detour.
Misconception
I don't write code, but I built my own AI work system and automation pipelines. I can follow the engineers and translate the technology into language sales understands.
08 — What I value
01
Every year I want to understand a little more than the last: products, markets, people, and myself.
02
I don't shy away from talking about money. Money is choice, and choice is what freedom is built on.
03
What I do should match who I am, not just the KPI.
I haven't arrived. I'm learning how to design a life that feels like mine.
09 — Currently building
Bringing SEO experience into the age of AI search: llms.txt, structured data, AI crawler settings, and a semi-automated content health-check pipeline.
Using AI generation tools to make narrative short films for C-level audiences, and holiday greeting videos for clients.
The company has offered RPA implementation for years; now we're carrying that process strength into the agentic AI era. What started as a request for a microsite, I pushed up to the question of how we position our services: researching how peers are transforming, working through it with our technical lead and CEO, and proposing a narrative based on an Info-Tech Research Group framework, so we agree internally before planning the next steps outside.
Turning how I run an entire marketing department alone with AI and systems into a method others can use, and documenting how far this system can take one person.
Currently becoming:
A more independent thinker.
A better builder.
A freer human.
